Research Fellow - Electrochemistry (Electrodeposition of 2D Materials EPSRC) at University of Southampton, UK

Applications are invited from excellent candidates with suitable experience and skills for the position of research fellow in electrochemistry with Professor Phil Bartlett in Chemistry at the University of Southampton. The successful candidate will be required to undertake experimental research focussing on the electrodeposition of semiconducting early transition metal chalcogenide thin film materials for device applications. The post is associated with a recently awarded collaborative research project, ‘2D Layered Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Semiconductors via Non-Aqueous Electrodeposition’ and is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, alongside other Research Fellows in Synthetic Chemistry and Electronic Engineering at Southampton, as well as other Research Fellows and PhD students working on projects in electrochemistry in the Bartlett group. The position is available for 2 years from 1st February 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in electrochemistry. Experience in electrodeposition of compound semiconductor, electrochemistry in an organic solvent under inert atmosphere techniques and relevant characterisation techniques would be highly desirable. Excellent written and spoken communication skills and organisational skills are essential.

The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
